Detailed Itinerary
Hotel Pickup & Panda Base Visit
Private pickup from your Chengdu hotel. Arrive at the Panda Base by 8:15 AM for priority access during feeding time. Spend 2.5 hours observing giant pandas, red pandas, and cubs in the nursery. Your guide will share insights on conservation efforts and panda biology.
Scenic Drive to Leshan
Depart for Leshan City (120 km, approximately 2 hours). Enjoy the changing landscape from urban Chengdu to rural Sichuan countryside. Your guide will brief you on the Buddha's 90-year construction history (713-803 AD) and its role as a river-taming project.
Authentic Sichuan Lunch
Savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant featuring Leshan specialties like Bobo Chicken (钵钵鸡) and Tofu Pudding (豆腐脑). Dietary preferences (vegetarian, non-spicy) are accommodated.
Leshan Giant Buddha Exploration
Enter the scenic area and choose your viewing method: descend the cliff-side Nine Bends Plank Road for an up-close encounter with the Buddha's feet, hands, and serene face, or take a river boat for the classic full-body panoramic view. Your guide will explain the Buddhist symbolism and engineering marvels.
Lingyun Temple & Departure
Visit Lingyun Temple at the Buddha's head level, where monks still practice. Enjoy tea at a riverside pavilion before beginning the return journey to Chengdu.
Return to Chengdu Hotel
Arrive back at your hotel in central Chengdu, with time to rest before dinner or evening activities.

- •Leshan Giant Buddha is 71 meters (233 feet) tall—taller than the Statue of Liberty
- •Photography is allowed, but drones are prohibited at both sites
- •This tour can be adjusted to visit Leshan first if you prefer afternoon panda viewing

Fantastic sights and excellent guide, but the driving time is significant. The car was comfortable, and we had rest stops, but if you have young children or mobility issues, consider splitting this into two separate days. That said, the efficiency of seeing both in one day was worth it for our tight schedule.
