Hotel Pickup & Scenic Drive
Private vehicle departs Chengdu for 1-hour drive to Dujiangyan (65 km northwest).
Dujiangyan Irrigation System Exploration
Guided tour of the 2,300-year-old engineering marvel: Yuzui (Fish Mouth Levee), Feishayan (Flying Sand Weir), and Baopingkou (Bottle-Neck Channel). Learn how this gravity-fed system still irrigates 5,300 km² of farmland without dams.
Anlan Suspension Bridge & Erwang Temple
Walk the swaying 261-meter bamboo-rope bridge and visit the temple honoring Li Bing (the system's designer) and his son.
Lunch at Local Restaurant
Enjoy Dujiangyan specialties like smoked duck and bamboo shoots.
Mount Qingcheng Cable Car & Temple Visit

- •Hiking the full mountain trail takes 3-4 hours up; cable car reduces this to 30 minutes
- •Taoist temples have dress codes: avoid shorts/tank tops; shoulders and knees covered
- •This tour can be customized to include Dujiangyan Panda Base (add 2 hours)

Beautiful but crowded on weekends
Both sites are stunning, but we visited on a Saturday and it was packed with domestic tourists. The cable car line at Qingcheng took 40 minutes. If possible, go on a weekday. Despite the crowds, the sites themselves are magnificent and our guide was excellent.
