البرنامج اليومي
Enter Temple Street from Jordan Road entrance
Exit Jordan MTR Station (Tsuen Wan Line) at Exit A and walk 5 minutes to Temple Street's southern entrance. The market officially opens at 6 PM but comes alive after 7 PM when food stalls fire up their woks and fortune tellers set up their tables.
Consult a traditional Chinese fortune teller
Choose from palm readers (手相), face readers (面相), or bird fortune tellers (雀仔占卜, where a trained bird picks your fortune card). Sessions cost HKD $100-300 ($13-40 USD). Your guide will help translate Cantonese predictions into English. Skeptics welcome—it's more about cultural immersion than accuracy.
Dai pai dong culinary adventure
Navigate the maze of open-air food stalls. Must-tries: claypot rice with Chinese sausage (煲仔饭), curry fish balls (咖喱鱼蛋), stinky tofu (臭豆腐), and oyster omelette (蚝烙). Sit at communal plastic stools and order cold Tsingtao beer. Expect no-frills service and cash-only payments.
Watch street performers sing traditional opera
Find the makeshift opera stage near Tin Hau Temple (usually set up on weekends). Elderly performers in elaborate costumes sing Cantonese opera classics, accompanied by erhu (two-stringed fiddle) and gongs. Toss HKD $20 into the donation box to show appreciation.
Browse vintage electronics, jade, and knockoffs
Explore stalls selling everything from "genuine fake" Rolex watches to jade bracelets and retro Hong Kong movie posters. Haggling is expected—start at 50% of the asking price. Cash transactions only. The market winds down around 11 PM.

Temple Street felt like stepping into a Wong Kar-wai film—neon lights, sizzling woks, and fortune tellers everywhere. The palm reader told me I'd have "three great fortunes" (still waiting!). The claypot rice was incredible. This is the real Hong Kong, not the sanitized tourist version.
Vibrant and chaotic in the best way. The Cantonese opera performance was a highlight—so much passion from the elderly singers. The food was hit-or-miss; some stalls were amazing, others just okay. Bring cash and be ready to haggle. A must-visit for night owls.
This was my favorite Hong Kong experience. The fortune teller used a bird to pick my fortune card—so unique! The street food was delicious and dirt cheap. The atmosphere after dark is electric. Go with an open mind and an empty stomach. Unforgettable.
