Tour Highlights

  • 27-degree incline creating optical illusion of tilting skyscrapers
  • Sky Terrace 428 observation deck—Hong Kong's highest 360° viewpoint
  • Historic green tram cars dating back to colonial era
  • Fast-track tickets to skip 2-hour queues during peak season

Day-by-Day Itinerary

09:00 AM - Departure from Central

Walk to Peak Tram Lower Terminus

From Central MTR Station Exit J2, walk 10 minutes uphill to Garden Road Peak Tram terminus. Alternatively, take bus 15C from Star Ferry. Purchase Sky Pass (tram + Sky Terrace) at the counter or use pre-booked e-tickets to skip the queue.

09:30 AM - Peak Tram ascent

8-minute vertical journey through Mid-Levels

Board the historic green tram (departs every 10-15 minutes). Sit on the right side for the best views of skyscrapers "leaning" backward due to the steep incline. The tram passes through 5 stations, including Kennedy Road and Barker Road, showcasing luxury residential areas.

10:00 AM - Victoria Peak exploration

Exit at the Peak Tower and ascend to Sky Terrace 428 (Hong Kong's highest viewing platform at 428 meters above sea level). Spend 30-45 minutes capturing panoramic photos. Then walk the 3.5 km Peak Circle Walk—a flat, shaded trail offering different perspectives of the city and Lamma Island.

12:00 PM - Return journey

The Peak Tram is a must-do in Hong Kong. We bought fast-track tickets and only waited 15 minutes. The views from Sky Terrace 428 were breathtaking—you can see the entire city, Victoria Harbour, and even Lantau Island on clear days. The tram ride itself is thrilling with the steep incline.

Fantastic experience, but be prepared for crowds. We visited at 6 PM for sunset and waited 45 minutes despite having e-tickets. The view was worth it, though. Pro tip: do the Peak Circle Walk—it's peaceful and offers different angles of the skyline.

As an engineering enthusiast, I was fascinated by the Peak Tram's 130-year-old funicular system. The optical illusion of buildings tilting is mind-bending. Sky Terrace 428 is pricey but worth it for the 360-degree views. Highly recommend visiting on a clear day.
