I was impressed by the spacious, naturalistic habitats—animals clearly have room to roam and exhibit natural behaviors. The koala forest was a highlight (50+ koalas!). Our guide was knowledgeable about conservation efforts and answered all our questions. Only minor complaint: lunch was mediocre (bring snacks if you're picky). Overall, a fantastic day for animal lovers. Highly recommend!
Ethical and Educational—Great for Families
We brought our 6 and 9-year-old, and they had a blast! The safari train was their favorite (seeing zebras and rhinos up close), followed by the panda triplets. I appreciated the educational focus—our guide explained conservation challenges and breeding programs. The park clearly prioritizes animal welfare (no elephant riding, no forced tricks). Facilities are excellent: clean restrooms, shaded rest areas, and stroller-friendly paths. The aerial ropeway offered stunning views. We stayed 6 hours and saw everything on our list. Pro tip: arrive at opening (9 AM) to beat crowds and see animals at their most active. Worth every yuan!
Incredible Variety and Beautiful Habitats
This park is HUGE—we walked over 10,000 steps! The variety of animals is astounding: pandas, koalas, white tigers, elephants, giraffes, flamingos, and so much more. The habitats are beautifully designed with waterfalls, forests, and lagoons. I loved the white tiger valley—the tigers had a massive mountain habitat with caves and pools. The elephant show was entertaining without being exploitative (trainers used positive reinforcement, no whips). The aerial cable car provided a unique perspective, seeing the park from above. Our guide timed everything perfectly, avoiding crowds and catching feeding times. Bring comfortable shoes and sunscreen—you'll be outdoors all day. Absolutely worth visiting!
Best Safari Park in Asia—Don't Miss It!
I've been to Everland (Korea) and Safari World (Thailand), and Chimelong blows them away. The scale is massive, the animal collection is unmatched, and the conservation focus is genuine. Highlights: (1) Safari train—felt like being in Africa with animals roaming freely, (2) Panda triplets—incredibly rare, (3) Koala forest—didn't expect to see 50+ koalas in China!, (4) White tigers—stunning and well-cared-for. The VIP fast-track entry saved us 90 minutes (standard queue was insane). Our guide's wildlife knowledge was impressive—she explained animal behaviors and conservation challenges. Only downside: very crowded on weekends (we went Saturday). If possible, visit on a weekday. Overall, a world-class experience!
