The hike is moderate with stone steps and some steep sections. It takes about 2-3 hours with breaks. We provide walking sticks and can adjust the pace. If you prefer, we can arrange sedan chair carriers for elderly or less mobile travelers.

Red Yao women are famous for their extraordinarily long hair (often 1.5-2 meters), which they cut only once in their lifetime at age 18. You'll witness traditional hair-washing ceremonies using fermented rice water and learn about their unique customs and clothing.

Yes! The bamboo-tube rice can be prepared vegetarian with local vegetables and mushrooms. We inform the village family in advance about dietary restrictions. The rice is cooked inside fresh bamboo over an open fire, giving it a unique fragrance.
